Unity Health Care Statement on Supreme Court Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Jun 24, 2022

Unity believes that healthcare is a human right, and the autonomy over one’s body is integral to living a life with dignity. We take immense pride in partnering with our patients to help them make informed decisions about their health and the services they feel are right for them. Ending the constitutional right to abortion care will fall hardest on the populations that Unity serves, including those who already face significant barriers to health care, increased rates of infant and maternal mortality, and other adverse health risks.

While Unity does not provide abortion services within our health care facilities, we are proud to provide critical access to high quality and culturally responsive family planning and sexual reproductive health services to thousands of patients with various backgrounds and experiences each year and we remain committed to doing so.

Daily, we offer the education, contraceptives, and other resources our patients need to make informed decisions about their health including counseling on achieving or avoiding pregnancy, provision of contraceptive methods, preconception counseling, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, basic infertility services, and related preventative health services such as cervical cancer screening.

We will continue to foster an environment built on trust and partnership in guiding patients throughout their health journey. As more information regarding the Supreme Court's decision becomes available, Unity will continue to closely monitor federal and local guidance on this issue.
