Unity Health Care Designated as COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Site
Nearly one year after the first case of COVID-19 was identified in the U.S., nine months into drastic changes to our living and working conditions, and after reaching more than 19 million confirmed cases across the country, we have witnessed a tremendous scientific breakthrough with the development of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
Unity Health Care has played a pivotal role in combating COVID-19 in the District by providing our patients and community, many of whom have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, with accessible and comprehensive care. To date, we've tested more than 30,000 patients and community members for COVID-19 and provided care to more than 3500 patients with confirmed COVID-19. That work continues at our five designated rapid respiratory evaluation clinics.
As COVID-19 vaccinations continue in our region and around the country, Unity Health Care has been designated as a COVID-19 vaccine distribution site. As such, Unity will follow DC Health mandate and CDC guidance for the phased distribution of the vaccine. During the first phase of vaccine distribution, frontline healthcare workers have been prioritized to ensure the District maintains a strong healthcare workforce throughout the continued fight against this pandemic.
As more vaccine doses become available, we will share updates here and on our social media pages regarding where and how our patients can be vaccinated. We encourage you to sign up for Unity’s Patient Portal to receive updates.
